Kelly has a general barrister’s practice and represents clients in contentious litigated matters before the Courts. She primarily represents clients in family law matters and civil litigation matters. Kelly regularly appears before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and is known for her memory for detail and ability to think on her feet. Kelly was called to the Alberta Bar on February 28, 2012.
Prior to founding Smith & Little LLP, Kelly was a sole practitioner practicing in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and criminal law. Kelly also has experience in construction litigation and articled at a large national law firm.
Kelly has an outstanding academic background having received numerous academic awards both at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and at the London School of Economics. Kelly was also a member of the Laskin moot team at UBC, contributing to a first place finish in the factum competition.
Kelly is fluent in French having completed the third year of her law degree as an exchange student at Sciences Po in Paris, France.
Kelly is actively involved in the community. She regularly volunteers in the legal community. She is also actively involved in partisan politics and is a volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada.
